This series of oil paintings is inspired by nature. Rooted in imagery of flowers, I have moved towards more abstract paintings. I wanted to create a sense of softness, space and light with both the brush marks and the choice of colours. For this series I have enjoyed exploring various processes including monoprinting and playing with scale and cropping. My influences have been Cy Twombly and Nicolas de Stael.
Biography
I’m now living in Edinburgh, my home city, having studied languages and lived and worked abroad. In 2009 I completed an art foundation course where I specialised in textiles. Last year I enjoyed the Introduction to Printmaking course at Leith School of Art and have been delighted to attend the one day painting course. This coming year I plan to consolidate what I have learnt by doing my own studio practice- I am determined that Fridays will be remain my studio day!
