My starting point was from photographs I’d taken in the National Museum of Scotland where the intense lighting of the glass cabinets provided ambiguous reflections of the mannequins displayed inside and the general public viewing them. Taking inspiration from the Cubists, I created a collage of the photographs and it was from this image that I produced rub-off oil paintings to be used in the final collage on plywood. Each process caused further distortion to the original image.
