Charles’ artistic practice is all about understanding places and their human history, seeking to find his own place in the developing story of the land. His practice is very much research based, relying on stories, context, and history to produce artworks that he finds compelling, whether it be a painting, sound recording, or piece of writing.
Brotherstones is a film which reflects upon the passage of time. Some elements of our history are enduring and static whilst others are fleeting or in constant flux. Of the land, the film asks this question: is it wise to resist change?
Biography
Charles is an artist and academic researcher with a background in law and history. He currently lives and work in the Scottish Borders.
