A week spent investigating the creative and playful potential of still life.
We will start the week painting in acrylics from a set-up of still life objects. Focussing on the painted surface, you will be shown how to use flat shapes to build composition and depict space. Days two and three will take a more unconventional approach to still life. We will start by working from a 2D painting, which will develop and change throughout the day, before introducing objects to the set-up. These exercises are designed to be fun and playful, aiming to boost confidence and encourage a more relaxed approach to painting. In the final two days, we will work on a sustained oil painting with a dynamic set up.
Demonstrations throughout the week will cover acrylic and oil techniques, including colour theory, paint handling, and the use of supporting mediums. This course is perfect for anyone eager to spend a week painting while exploring a creative approach to still life.
