A comprehensive exploration of monotype printmaking - a quick, expressive and adaptable medium.
Students will be introduced to a variety of techniques which can be used in combination:
- trace monotype
- reductive monotype
- masking & stencils
- techniques for inking and wiping plates
- preparing paper and “pulling” a print using an etching press
- basic registration for creating three-colour prints
In-depth demonstrations combined with a supportive environment for experimentation will allow students to try out new ways of working and create visually exciting, unique artworks.
Students are welcome to bring sketchbooks or photographs of their own to use as source material, and a selection of interesting still life objects will also be available as a starting-off point for students to work from.
This workshop is suitable for those new to printmaking and anyone wishing to expand their knowledge and skills.
