A workshop exploring the foundational elements of abstract landscape art.
Through a series of exercises, students will break away from traditional representation introducing a freedom of expression to their work.
Guided by the tutor, students will simplify colour and form, refining and pushing what constitutes a landscape painting. We will work from natural elements brought in by students e.g. collected wood, flowers and grasses in combination with drawing and painting materials, organising and manipulating these forms to explore the language of abstract landscape.
Students will experiment with a series of test works on paper before beginning a piece which further develops their ideas.
