On this course, students will transform fabrics, threads, yarns and other found materials, such as plastics, bottle tops, papers, buttons and wire by upcycling them into 3D textile art pieces. These can be standalone works or could be taken further by you, if you want to develop your ideas later at home for cards, gift tags, invitations etc.
The week is aimed at those who enjoy using recycled materials, learning new crafting skills, or who are looking to add to their portfolio for application to Textile or Fashion courses in Higher Education. During this two-day course, students will learn skills with colour, patternmaking, material manipulation and 3D construction, taking inspiration from textile and collage artists such as Polly Binns, Maria Thomas, Jennifer Collier, Daniella Woolf and Beverley Ayling Smith.
