This two-day workshop will enable students to confidently approach colour in wet-on-wet oil painting.
The first day will begin by learning how to mix colours, with the tutor introducing colour theory and demonstrating the basics of preparing a palette. Students will then make tonal sketches of a still life set-up before completing a series of small colour studies focussing on using complementary colours.
We will deeply observe and respond to the colours we see in the still life. Tone, hue, temperature and saturation will be assessed to determine how the colours we see can be created on our palettes. We will discover what happens when we see colours side-by-side, and how colour can create an illusion of space on a flat surface.
On the second day, in-depth support will be given while each student works on a rich, colourful painting
