Build up a strong portfolio by working through drawing, sculpture, painting and sketchbooks.

To start the week, students will work collaboratively to construct a sculptural vessel, which will become the subject of drawn studies. You will continue to develop these compositional studies in sketchbooks, and these will inform a larger, individual acrylic painting of a chosen part of the vessel. There will be a focus on sketchbook work throughout the week, and we’ll look at ways of developing these into objects that feel personal to you.

We’ll then return to construction, considering ways in which we can make the structure more atmospheric. During the latter part of the week, you’ll use the knowledge that you’ve built so far to create a sustained and resolved oil painting.

There will be tutor demonstrations throughout the week, discussion of relevant artists and a strong focus on developing a project - ideal for building up a strong portfolio for future study.
