A course designed for students with some experience, who want to explore a variety of approaches and processes while developing their skills and creating a lively body of work.
You might have taken a few short courses and want to get really stuck in with a whole day making art or you may be considering further study and building a portfolio.
This exciting course is suitable for a range of abilities and ideal for anyone wishing to grow their practical skills and interests.
Throughout the term, the tutor will deliver carefully thought out projects that will help you gain confidence in drawing, painting and mixed media, while encouraging individual exploration. We will study the work of other artists both for inspiration and in support of your art work.
Each term is different, you can take a single term or continue the course over a number of terms. Subject matter can include – studio installations, life models, drawing on location around Edinburgh, and gallery visits. We will work in wet and dry materials and, depending on the term, discover the possibilities of processes such as printmaking, oil paint, collage and 3D work.
