Owen is a Scottish artist who trained at Edinburgh College of Art and Leith School of Art. Specialising in figurative oil painting, he has over eight years experience teaching students of different ages and abilities. He has taught workshops at the National Portrait Gallery, Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh University, and at various studios in Berlin.
Owen was the winner of the prestigious BP Portrait Young Artist Award in 2013 and in 2014 was named one of 15 emerging artists of great promise from around the world by Rebecca Wilson, Saatchi Art's Chief Curator. He has had solo exhibitions in Lisbon (2014), Kulmbach (2015) and Berlin (2017), and has exhibited in group shows in London, New York, Berlin and Edinburgh. His work is held in private collections in the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, USA, Canada, Mexico, Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong.
