Alastair leads the Critical & Professional Development sessions with our Foundation and Painting courses, as well as running a series of monthly Professional Practice evening events which will begin in October 2017. He was a student on the Foundation Course before studying painting at The Glasgow School of Art and the MA Fine Art course at Wimbledon College of Arts.
Alastair's artistic practice is focussed on the notion of a painting as a cultural artefact, using illusion to pose questions of authenticity and the nature of painting and of the artist's practice. In recent years, Alastair has shown work at
Nomas* Projects, Dundee, and Nunnery Gallery, ArtLacuna, and BEARSPACE, all in London. He was also one of the alumni included in the School's 25th Anniversary Exhibition at the Dovecot Galleries in Edinburgh. Alastair has been shortlisted for the Griffin Art Prize, selected for the Winsor and Newton Painting Prize and was awarded the Shoosmiths Art Prize in 2015.
